Who's Online

We have 4 guests online

We believe raising godly children is the job of godly parents and rejoice in the privilege of serving parents in their task. We believe children are uniquely close to the heart of God, so ministry to children is a high and lofty service that shapes years of a church’s future and the lives of individual children. During the service we provide early childhood care for kids up to five.  For elementary ages Sunday school classes meet after the family worship time. On the first Sunday of the month, all elementary age (Kindergarten – 5th grade) meet together for "Children’s Church" where we have some expanded types of ministry.

Southgate Children's Ministry

Thank you for taking a few minutes to learn about what’s going on in Southgate’s Children’s Ministry. We are grateful for the opportunity to come alongside parents in training and equipping the next generation.
Our “home grown” curriculum is tailor-made for the children in our care and for this hour of history. We seek to point all eyes to Jesus through everything we do. We desire for this next generation to be fascinated with the Son of God and want to facilitate that by letting the little children come to Him.
Children are both precious to God and powerful in His kingdom. We are thankful to be able to serve the children and families at Southgate church.

Beginner’s Church (0-2 year olds)
We are passionate about helping to lay a strong foundation for the youngest visitors and mem-bers of Southgate Church . Besides changing diapers and passing out snacks, we’re training the chil-dren to engage in worship, pray for each other and get quiet before the Lord in “prayer caves” in order to hear His voice. The lessons for this age group are appropriate for their age and attention span while having the focus of the nature and character of God.

Our infant ministry is located in a special section of the Beginner’s Church room. Each in-fant is prayed over and has the Word of God spoken over him or her in class.

Smaller Saints (3-5 year olds)
In our Smaller Saints class, preschool age children are taught a Biblical lesson focused on the nature and character of God and then begin to “own” the lesson by acting out the Bible story in a small group center as well as doing an activity to reinforce what they’ve learned. The Smaller Saints are also learning to listen for God’s voice using “prayer caves” and are learning to pray for each other using “the prayer chair”. Our prayer is that it’s more than a fun class, it’s a place of encounter with the Living God!

School Age Saints (K-5th Grade)
Our School Age Saints class meets after wor-ship, except for on the first Sunday of the month when they can come to class at 10 a.m. In this class, the children are learning about the nature and character of God through Bible passages as well as through relevant teaching aimed at equipping children to walk with God in this unique hour in history. These children are being trained in praying for the sick, lis-tening to God’s voice and being led by the Holy Spirit.

Parent Room
Southgate has a Parent Room for those parents who do not wish to place their children in class. This room has toys for the children to play with and a speaker so that parents can still listen to the service. Please feel free to use this room at any time.

Nursing Mother's Room
Southgate also has a Nursing Mother’s Room where mothers with infants can take care of their babies while listening to the service.

Special Needs Children's Ministry
We are committed to and excited to welcome children with special needs! Our Special Needs Coordinator is Jan Butler and she can work with families to decide the best fit for their child. Options include our special needs classroom or attending our regular Children’s Ministry classrooms with a trained personal assistant.
