Southgate Church values having a sense of community. Community is what happens outside of the Sunday meeting.
It could be a men's retreat, being a part of a homegroup, or simply gatherings of close friends!
Second Saturday Servants
Written by Harry Schroeder
There is something exciting brewing in the people Southgate! "Second Saturday Servant" activities are opportunities that church members are siezing. This monthly activity sends Southgate members to other parts of the city to do practical, hands on work for widows, orphans and refugees while partnering with outstanding groups like New City Fellowship and Oasis International. In lending a hand to these great ministries and obeying the spirit of Isaiah 58, Southgate people are seeing the fruit of their labors and personal blessing in their own lives.
Pastor Kevin Pratt heads up these 'work crews' and says while skilled laborers are important, even the unskilled provide valuable help in many ways. Some of the work is helping people with overgrown yards or the hauling away of trash.
In addition to travelling to other parts of the city, some of the Second Saturday activities, focus on needs of those in our own church.
"Second Saturday Servants" meet at the Southgate cafeteria at 8:30 a.m. for a breakfast, a bit of fellowship and some planning. For more information contact the Southgate office at 314-842-8679.
